Entrance Hall Table
The legs on this hall table are five sided; the outer edges are softly beveled , the inner surfaces are hand planed to a half circle, with the strokes of the plane leaving a series of small crisp edges to see and feel.

But it is the zebra-wood top that takes the show, with its spectacular grain pattern of undulating waves. The 3/32 shop-sawn veneer has the illusion of being a 1/2 deep in places, giving a mesmerizing treat to the eyes.

Side Table
The table merges two colors the darker stripes of the zebra-wood and the walnut. The grain of the top has a centered sweeping arch that plays off the gentle curve of the legs. This table was featured in the NYTimes article entitled "Simple & Straightforward"  Jan. 31, 2008

book/music stand

Book / Music Stand
This piece began with small pieces of spalted maple that were slated for firewood or maybe a box. I needed to make a piece for a furniture show that had the criteria having nothing larger than a 22x 22 footprint. The tapered post is a series of laminations with hand planed bevel corners that reveal the different layers of wood.

Bedside Tables
The sinew shaped legs, the skirt and the book platform slates, all have mild curvatures that have been planed and spoke shaved. I used a much darker cherry for the legs and they have aged naturally to a very deep and unusual burgundy color, giving an interesting contrast.

This was commissioned to house family heirloom silverware. The handcut dovetails vary in size to give rhythm and have an additional corner bevel. The bridle joint door frame adds a fine touch. Carved side indentations assist with moving the box. A fitted pacific cloth inner box can be purchased to house the silverware.
